Job overview

We are seeking to appoint reliable Exam Invigilators to be part of our Exam Invigilation team to oversee our examinations at particular times in the school year. This a casual contract which would include attendance of team meetings and training events. The role involves setting up examination rooms, ensuring correct exam procedures are followed, distribution and collection of examination papers and monitoring students during the examination period.

Turing House School is an inspirational new 11–19 secondary school, currently with years 7 to 11 and has a strong focus on Science and Engineering. Our first four years have established us as a successful and exceptionally popular school, being oversubscribed with waiting lists for each year group, and achieving 'Good with outstanding features' in our first Ofsted. The school’s permanent site in Whitton will be ready during the academic year 2020/21, and until then we are based in high quality accommodation on two sites: Teddington, years 9, 10 and 11; Hampton, years 7 and 8. The school’s examinations will take place at our Hampton site.

This is a crucial role in supporting the school with the smooth running of the examinations and to ensure a consistent environment is maintained for all examinations to enable all students to perform at their best. You will join us at an exciting time with our first GCSE exams in summer 2020.

The successful candidate will: (see job pack for more details)

  • Enjoy working as part of a busy team as well as on their own initiative.
  • Be able to deal with sensitive information in a professional manner and understand the importance of confidentiality and safeguarding.

We can offer:

Welcome to the Turing House School Career site!

Are you passionate about teaching and supporting students? Are you looking for an inspirational school that provides the rare opportunities that a growing school does? Do you want to be supported in your career development? Then come and join us at Turing House School.

Turing House opened in September 2015. It was set up by a parent-led group and became the fifth school in the Russell Education Trust (RET), the largest group of free schools in the country. We are now in our eighth academic year and this September we welcomed our third cohort in to our sixth form, again welcoming students from other schools to continue their education with us.

Turing House School has had enormous local support since it was first proposed and has been oversubscribed for every intake so far. In May 2018, we were pleased when Ofsted judged us as good overall with outstanding leadership and management as well as personal development, behaviour and welfare. The support to staff provided by the knowledge and experience in RET is invaluable. RET secondary schools are among the most successful in the country; the Progress 8 score for the Trust’s first set of GCSE results in 2018 placed RET among the top MATs nationally and our EBACC entry and success rate is the top ten nationally. Our external results so far have been very pleasing with 2022 and 2023 results at KS4 deemed to be significantly above national averages. All post 16 students gained a place at university if that was their desired goal, with one student being places at Cambridge in 2023.

To continue to develop the vision for Turing House School, we need the very best staff who are able to embed our ethos into their teaching and wider school life. We have already created a wonderful environment for young people to learn and mature in and we continue to develop this as we settle into our permanent site. Our aim is that all our students can be equipped to progress to the jobs, training and higher education most suited to their talents and abilities, irrespective of their social or economic circumstances and ultimately have high aspirations for themselves and their future.

We are currently looking for the following role:

- Teacher of English - to start in September 2024

- Cover Teacher and Cover Supervisors on a Casual Basis - to start as soon as possible

Please visit our website to apply for the above roles or apply through TES: https://www.tes.com/jobs/employer/-1067465

If you do not teach the subject(s)/role listed above but are interested in working at our school in the future, we would be delighted to hear from you. Please contact us and we can keep in touch: vacancies@turinghouseschool.org.uk or 020 8069 6100
