Job overview

Executive Business Manager, East London all-through Cluster

Location: East London

Interviews: Expected to be held on 08 June 2020

The role

The Executive Business Manager role is an exciting opportunity to establish, lead and deliver a high quality and efficient business support service across two United Learning schools in east London.  We are looking for a highly experienced, strategic and customer focused individual who will be able to set up and lead the formation of a cluster.  The role will have an initial focus at Goresbrook School.

You will already have experience in leading and coordinating the delivery of business support services in a number of schools or a similarly complex environment. In addition, you will be familiar with strategic planning and decision-making, professional relationship management, negotiating and influencing at Senior Leadership, Governing Body and Board level and the effective and efficient management of all resources.

You will develop a high performing and motivated business support team, with a focus on the education outcomes and strategic vision.  You will also be responsible for developing shared working practices across the schools over time, and for promoting the benefits of best practice across the cluster.  You will actively promote and model the values of United Learning and our Framework for Excellence, whilst endorsing and celebrating the distinct culture and ethos of each Academy.  You will be responsible for managing the relationship with United Learning central services to ensure that these functions provide value added support and advice to the cluster in a timely and professional way. You will have the highest regard for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of staff, children and young people.

This is a school-based role with a contractual base at Goresbrook School. The postholder will focus initially on supporting both primary and secondary phases at Goresbrook before looking to extend their reach to Walthamstow Academy.  We are therefore open to candidates who have the potential to grow into this role.  Your application should explain your suitability for the role described above and in the job description and should be tailored to meet the Person Specification in terms of your knowledge, experience, skills, qualities and qualifications.

This is a challenging and diverse role offering the opportunity to shape the development of the business offer to two of our schools in east London, leading and developing teams of skilled and qualified business support staff and making a tangible impact on the lives of young people.  In return, you will receive first-class development, a dynamic working environment, a range of employee benefits and a competitive salary.

About United Learning

United Learning is a large and growing group of schools which aims to provide a life changing education to children and young people across England.  United Learning has schools throughout the country and a strategy of building tight geographical clusters of schools.  Goresbrook School and Walthamstow Academy will form one of these clusters.

Our schools work as a team and achieve more by sharing than any single school could. Our subject specialists, our group-wide intranet, our own curriculum and our online learning portal all help us to share knowledge and resources, simplify work processes and manage workloads for an improved work-life balance.

As a group we can reward our staff better: with good career opportunities, better pay and benefits, and ultimately the satisfaction of helping children to succeed.  We invest in staff wellbeing.  Our academies have eight INSET days per year (with three dedicated to planning).  It's an ethos we call ‘the best in everyone’.
