OLA is an independent, Catholic, coeducational day school situated just outside Oxford welcoming girls and boys from age 7 to 18 of all faiths and none. An experienced, inspirational and suitably qualified teacher is required  to lead our Food Technology department from September 2021.  The subject is a well-established element of the OLA curriculum and very popular with pupils across all years.   The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate strong people skills, good organisational abilities and experience of teaching across the full age and ability range from KS3 up to and including KS5.   For full details of the position please see the attached Application Pack.

The ideal candidate:

  • A good degree in Food or a related discipline
  • Recent experience of teaching from KS3 to KS5
  • Track record of motivating learners and raising achievement
  • Understanding of current and planned examination requirements
  • Team player with ability to work flexibly as part of a team
  • Flexible in outlook and attitude
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Patient, friendly and approachable
  • Understanding and supportive of the School's ethos

Abingdon-on-Thames is an historic, modern market town situated eight miles south of Oxford, with its world renowned reputation as a centre of academic excellence. The town has undergone recent development to upgrade the central shopping area providing a selection of restaurants, cafes and bars situated a just few minutes walk away from the river and gardens of Abbey Meadows. The town supports a mixed international community and has excellent bus links to Oxford, which is just a 15 minute ride away and provides a wealth of social and cultural opportunities.
