The British School of Salalah is seeking to appoint an experienced and successful leader to the role of Head Teacher. We are looking for an inspirational individual who will lead the next exciting phase of school development.

Essential requirements:

  • Have a proven track record of success in senior leadership role
  • Have a comprehensive knowledge of UK National Curriculum
  • Have a leadership style based on appreciating, supporting and nurturing the talents of those around you
  • Be sensitive to the cultural differences you will find in Oman
  • Be an experienced teacher and understand the needs of students EYFS Key Stage 4
  • Be an effective communicator not only with native English speakers but also with these from other cultural backgrounds
  • Be committed to the safe guarding of these in your care
  • Be flexible, resilient, able to work well under pressure and manage your time effectively
  • Enjoy the challenge of working in a growing school


Desirable Qualities:

  • Hold an educational degree and/or management qualification
  • Have experience in teaching students for whom English is an additional language


Your role will be:

  • To attract, retain and develop educational and managerial talents
  • To pursue and encourage outstanding academic performance
  • To work with the staff and students to create a hardworking and happy ethos based on mutual respect
  • To be responsible for the academic life of the school from EYFS to the end of Key Stage 3 ensuring the curriculum is appropriate planned and delivered
  • To develop and promote Key stage 4 within the school
  • To be responsible for the pastoral life of the school
  • To maintain good discipline
  • To work with all stakeholders to develop and implement the strategic direction of the school
  • To drive the marketing and admission process with an adherence to quality
  • To develop and sustain good relations with parents


Remuneration:

It moved to a villa in Salalah town in 1977 and then on to its present site in 1980.  BSS is the only British National Curriculum school in Salalah and is a member of the British Schools in the Middle East (BSME). It has recently been recognised as a COBIS Member and is looking to achieve COBIS Accreditation this academic year.

The Dhofar region is experiencing a period of unprecedented economic growth and investment, particularly in the tourist sector.
