Townsville Catholic Education Office is currently seeking an experienced and dedicated IT Policy and Risk Coordinator.  This is a Full Time, 2 Year Fixed Term Contract commencing as soon as practicable.

About the role

The IT Policy and Risk Coordinator (ITPRC) is an IT professional who coordinates and supports services within the Information Technology and Services Team (ITS). The ITPRC is responsible for providing services around and support of TCE IT policies and IT risk management, to achieve TCE’s strategic outcomes.

Working with stakeholders, the ITPRC has a delivery focus and bias for action that coordinates the provision of creative solutions for improved servers and outcomes within ITS. The ITPRC will perform routine and non-routine professional tasks governed by approved ITS practices and procedures. The ITPRC will coordinate input to the development of new ITS practices and procedures relating to the IT policy and IT risk management responsibilities they have.

The ITPRC works with the Senior Manager, Information Technology and Services to configure, plan, monitor, and manage IT policy and IT risk management across TCE. The ITPRC has an in-depth knowledge of IT policy and IT risk management, including data governance and cyber security, and will be able to synthesise IT policy in other IT Service Management areas, both independently, as well as leading or part of a team.

The ITPRC will have a high level of input into the Continual Service Improvement Program. As a senior role within the Resource Coordination team, the ITPRC will be expected to mentor and train other employees and ensure documentation is available for skill sharing and training.

The ITPRC reports directly to the Senior Manager, Information Technology and Services and will work as part of the ITS team located at TCE-ITS offices.

Key Accountabilities

  • Develops and coordinates corporate IT Policy including Data Governance, Cyber Security, IT Risk Management and Managed Procurement of IT Assets
  • Coordinates the identification of top human risks to the organisation and the behaviours that must change to mitigate those risks
  • Develops, reviews, implements and maintains a security awareness program to mitigate human risks
  • Creates a metrics framework that effectively measures compliance with IT policies
  • Collaborate with workplace governance and corporate communications to execute multi-channel enablement campaigns
  • Support the governance process by documenting decisions, release timelines and recommended actions
  • Develop, maintain and perform operational procedures and ensure operational tasks are performed reliably and consistently to reduce the risk of unplanned outages
  • Evaluate new service solutions and facilitate service assurance in the delivery of new projects
  • Assist with the provision of proactive and reactive support, ensuring strategic and tactical objectives are aligned
  • Ensuring required controls are adhered to without compromising responsiveness and availability
  • Lead teams as required
  • Ability to work after hours, both planned and ad-hoc
  • Occasional travel may be required
  • Other duties as reasonably directed by the Senior Manager, Information Technology and Services.

Mandatory Criteria

  • Current Working with Children Suitability Card - The successful candidate will require a paid Blue Card before commencement as per the No Card, No Start policy developed by Queensland Government or Current Registration with the Queensland College of Teachers
  • Tertiary qualification in an ICT/Policy related field or equivalent experience
  • Current Driver’s Licence
  • Ability to travel from time to time within the Catholic Diocese of Townsville
  • Ability to perform the physical requirements of the role in a safe
  • It is a requirement of this role that you are fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Proof of vaccination will be required as a pre-commencement document. PLEASE DO NOT ATTACH A VACCINATION CERTIFICATE WITH YOUR APPLICATION

Desirable Criteria

  • Post Graduate qualifications in an ICT/Policy related field or equivalent experience
  • PRINCE2 qualifications
  • ITIL v4 qualifications
  • COBIT qualifications
  • Relevant industry experience in the education sector
