Job overview

Established in 2005, Gulf British Academy is a BSO accredited school seeking to strengthen its provision for Early Years Foundation Stage pupils. The school presently caters for pupils from Pre-KG to Year 10.

We plan to add another year level each year until we become a fully 3-18 British International School. The recent move into a purpose-built, state-of-the-art building reflects the owners and senior leaders’ ambition to achieve excellence.

We are seeking a qualified, proactive, and experienced Key Stage 1 Teacher to join our dedicated KS1 team. Comfortable with teaching at both Year 1 and Year 2 level, applicants must be fluent English speaking graduates who hold a UK Department for Education teacher reference number or equivalent non-UK qualifications, or be in their final year of training.

What you offer

You will be a creative and adaptable Key Stage 1 Teacher able to engage, inspire and extend our pupils through planning, preparation and delivery of excellent lessons. A teacher with a growth mindset who can reflect upon their own practice with the aim of instilling confidence and independence into our pupils so they develop into enquiry based learners.

Essential requirements  

  • Qualified Teacher Status: A degree-level qualification in teaching (e.g. PGCE or Bachelor’s in Education).  
  • Successful and recent KS1 teaching experience or training in a UK or international BSO-accredited school.  
  • Proficient at delivering the KS1 national curriculum or similar child-led curriculum.  
  • Able to assess and plan to meet the needs of all class pupils in the short, medium and long term.  
  • Make effective use of all resources, including support staff, to ensure children in your care receive an enriched education.  
  • Fluent in spoken and written English.  
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to foster good behaviour and build good relationships with pupils, parents and colleagues.  
  • Ability to work under pressure and prioritise effectively.  
  • A clean enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check and/or police check.


Desirable  

  • Ability to use in-class digital technology to support learning and development in the classroom is an asset.  
  • Willing to make a significant contribution to our wider curriculum, including the development of extra-curricular activities.  
  • Competent IT skills with experience in using Google Workspace, Zoom, Gmail, shared drives, etc as well as IT tools to record observations and assessment.

Curriculum

We work closely within the national curriculum for England to deliver creative and interactive programmes that develop our academic curriculum, pastoral care system and extra-curricular activities to ensure our children are happy and enjoy coming to school. This includes a house system, as well as Philosophy for Children and Growth Mindset initiatives. We also embrace Islamic culture and values through Arabic Language, Islamic and Quran studies in accordance with the guidelines of the Kuwait Ministry of Education.
