The Pastoral Support Officer has a varied range of responsibilities for which we are seeking at least A level standard of education and preferably school-based experience of pastoral support and care.  *Salary grade dependent on level of responsibilities.  

Combining traditional and cutting edge teaching methods, Coombe Wood uses effective models of in-class support that enable students to be as independent as possible, while receiving the scaffolding they need to encourage achievement. This role involves communicating closely with the subject teachers, the SEND team, HOYs and parents, to gain a sound grasp of students’ backgrounds and hence enable effective support and care. As with all roles that support learning, staff are required to be flexible so the remit includes both group support and individual work with some of our students. This is a new secondary fully-inclusive co-educational school, serving the communities of South and Central Croydon, established to meet an urgent rising local demand. The site of the ‘new build’ school is opposite Lloyd Park in South Croydon, with an excellent Tramlink service to and from East Croydon station (just 5 minutes’ journey-time away) and a short walk from several bus routes. Over £35 million has been invested in building a state-of-the-art school which includes enhanced sports and performing arts facilities, comprising a competition-sized sports hall, a full-size 3G artificial surface, sprung dance floor studios, music rooms and a recording studio

About us – context, location and buildings 

This fully inclusive secondary co-educational school was established in 2018 to meet an urgent rising local demand. 

The site of our new building and extensive grounds is opposite Lloyd Park in South Croydon, with an excellent Tramlink service to and from East Croydon station (just 5-minute journey-time away,) and a short walk from several bus routes. 

Our £35 million building and facilities offer specialist teaching spaces for all subjects including Music, Dance, Drama, Science, Design Technology and Art.
