Job overview
Due to our expanding school roll, applications are invited from enthusiastic and collegial teachers wishing to join a warm and friendly boarding community, who are prepared to participate fully in our extensive extra-curricular activities programme. The position would suit either young teachers or established teachers looking for a teaching position in South East Asia. The students are truly delightful and many teachers who arrive at the school are pleasantly surprised by the fact that they are able to come here and teach!
Physics is an extremely popular subject at both IGCSE and A level, with numbers of students choosing to study physics increasing year on year. Students follow the Cambridge International syllabus and in the May/June 2017 public examinations, the department achieved 95% A* to B at A level, which is 45% higher than the average attainment for the same exam board in schools across the world. The department is well resourced, with four dedicated laboratories. The five teachers of the department collaborate well together, particularly looking at analysing data in order to provide feedback for teachers and students to focus on where improvements in understanding and skill are required. Another essential member of the department, the physics lab technician, supports the teachers in allowing emphasis to be placed on learning through investigation as well as ensuring the students are well prepared for both their written and practical examinations.
Candidates should be above 22 years old (in keeping with Malaysian visa laws) and have had at least 2 years’ teaching experience up to A level focused on student-centred learning and competence in the use of ICT.
The ideal candidate will:

- Encourage both independent and collaborative learning;
- Use assessment to inform teaching and learning;
- Demonstrate flexibility and responsiveness;
- Possess highly developed ICT competencies.

Our accreditations
In 2025, KTJ was once again awarded the Council of International Schools (CIS) International Accreditation. This accreditation involves a comprehensive and rigorous evaluation process, assessing the institution's adherence to internationally recognised standards and offering recommendations for ongoing development. KTJ exceeded standards in seven out of eight Boarding evaluation areas, including accommodation, food, healthcare, school life, overall wellbeing, parent communication, and safeguarding. KTJ has been a CIS accredited school for 15 years.
