Job overview
Exeter School is the leading co-educational day school in the South West, educating 950 pupils aged 7-18. Situated on a 25-acre site near the city centre, our strong links to the local community, well-established pastoral care systems and fantastic teaching enable us to challenge, inspire and deliver the very best learning to our pupils.
We are looking to appoint a School Support Administrator to join us as soon as possible.
This is a new and exciting role to provide administrative support across a wide range of the school’s activities. The successful applicant will be highly organised and efficient, as well as having excellent ICT skills which must include Microsoft Excel. Good communication skills are also required in this multi-faceted role and the ability to work independently and to liaise positively with multiple busy professionals, with parents and with children is important. Experience of a school setting is desirable but not essential.
Specific qualifications, experience and/or training should be made clear on your application and all will be advantageous in the application process. As important, however, is the flexibility and desire to learn new skills, undertake new training and adapt to the needs of this new position. The school is willing to provide access to training courses for the successful candidate.
As a new role, the terms of the appointment are flexible by agreement during the appointment process. We will consider full (or nearly full) time as well as term time only or all year round. It would be helpful if your letter of application gave an indication of your preferred working hours.
The role will attract a full-time equivalent salary likely to be in the range £21,000 to £23,000 dependent on qualifications and experience. Generous benefits include free school lunch during term time, free on-site parking, access to school sporting facilities including gym and indoor pool, an 8% employer contribution to the school’s approved pension scheme and membership of SimplyHealth plan.
Closing date is midday on Tuesday 7th June. Anticipated interview date is Thursday 16th June.
Applications must include a completed Exeter School application form. Alternatively, please contact Mrs Julie Furniss, HR Officer on 01392 307080 (select option 1 for Bursary) if your require further details and a printed application form.
The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment and responsibility. Applicants will be required to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service.
All staff working in the school during the school day will have some contact with children and will therefore be in regulated activity. In your role you are likely to be regularly working directly with, and be responsible for, children in your care.
The post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the school is therefore permitted to ask job applicants to declare all convictions and cautions (including those which are "spent" unless they are "protected" under the DBS filtering rules) in order to assess their suitability to work with children.
