Job overview

About Open Sky International

Open Sky International Paris is a private bilingual English/French school, located in Boulogne-Billancourt, a suburb of Paris. Currently, our classes range from GS (Year 1) to 3rd (Year 10) and in September 2022 we will open our first class of Second, which will follow a series of GCSE and IGCSE qualifications.

Our vision is to provide a bilingual education of excellence to our students, and our academic curriculum is built on the strongest aspects of a range of international programmes and teaching and learning methodologies. From the outset, we have high expectations and standards for all students and we want our curriculum to be rigorous, broad and engaging. Classes are small and students are courteous, hardworking and motivated. We are a fully international school, welcoming French and expatriate families, and we are proud of our multicultural school community. Our staff at all levels are enthusiastic and passionate about education, and have a good understanding of best teaching and learning practices.

Our school is still relatively young and is the first international school opened by OSI, an ambitious and innovative new education group based in Paris. Other OSI schools have recently opened in Egypt and Morocco and will open in other locations internationally over the next five years.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for a motivated, flexible and hard-working teacher of English as an Additional Language (EAL). Many of our students arrive in at the school with limited or no English, and high quality EAL provision is essential for these learners to integrate quickly into classes. EAL support is provided where necessary to students in both the secondary and the primary schools, and the successful candidate will work with learners in one-to-one sessions, small group extraction or whole class teaching. The planning and delivery of EAL extracurricular activities that engage and enthuse students will also be required.

The successful candidate will be:

• An excellent EAL practitioner with high expectations for all students.

• Committed to ensuring students can access all aspects of the English-medium curriculum of the school as quickly as possible.

• Willing to support other colleagues and assist them with developing practical EAL teaching strategies for their own classes.

• An inspiring professional who engages his or her classes and aims to develop all language skill areas systematically.

• Enthusiastic and passionate about education, with a good understanding of best practice and developments in EAL methodology.

• Able to support and promote the values of the school.

• Eager to discover new cultures and ideas, and open to the challenges of living and working abroad.

All successful applicants will have an appropriate qualification. Ideally, a minimum of four years of experience in teaching the relevant age group is required. As we are a bilingual school, all teachers are required to learn and speak French and for teachers who need support with learning the French language, private lessons with a tutor will be provided by the school.

Why choose us?

OSI offers you the opportunity to be part of a committed international team. We intend to create more schools to implement our vision of bilingual education in the coming years, giving our teachers the opportunity to participate in an exciting new project. The position comes with an attractive salary and support with housing costs if required.

How to apply

We reserve the right to interview and appoint at any stage of the recruitment process. Early applications are therefore encouraged. For further details about working at OSI, please visit our website.

About Open Sky International France

Open Sky International schools prepare pupils to succeed in a rapidly changing, competitive and multicultural world. We have a real passion for education and our curriculum, teaching and learning methodology are built on the strongest aspects of a range of international curricula. We have high expectations and standards from the beginning for all children and we aim for our curriculum to be rigorous, broad and engaging. We understand that children are powerful learners, and we are confident that every child will make progress with the right strategies and support. This is why we do not practise selection at the admissions stage; instead, we believe that the role of a school is to enable all of its students to realise their potential.

Our curriculum targets both academic excellence and children’s personal development. We believe that academic excellence is compatible with children being fulfilled at school and respect, work, effort and critical thinking are all core elements of our philosophy.

Mastering languages is the key to cultures and to culture. Our group educational vision is for all pupils to achieve equal oral and written proficiency in French and English by the time they leave school. In addition, we believe that exposure to international cultures helps children to develop critical thinking and a set of values free of prejudice. We aim to provide children with the tools they will need to make the right choices in an open and globalised world, so that they can succeed in France or elsewhere. Our curriculum framework at all stages has been carefully designed to achieve this vision.
