Job overview

La Mare de Carteret High School is seeking to appoint from September 2020 an enthusiastic, dynamic and well-qualified, specialist graduate teacher with the vision and energy to deliver high standards of teaching and learning in the area of Maths, to make a full contribution to the ethos, identity and life of the School and to the Guernsey Federation of Secondary Schools.

About the Education Service

La Mare de Carteret High School currently operates as part of the Guernsey Federation of Secondary Schools which includes St Sampson’s, Les Beaucamps La Mare De Carteret and Guernsey Grammar School and Sixth Form alongside St Anne’s School in Alderney. Secondary and Post 16 education is undergoing a period of exciting change on the Island which includes a planned new structure with one 11-18 all ability school on two sites.

The drivers in Secondary phase education for this significant transformation are: equality of educational experience and outcomes, equality of opportunity and access, and efficient and effective use of resources.

Employed by the States of Guernsey and based at the La Mare de Carteret High School , you will be required to maximise opportunities for collaborative working, teaching and learning across Key Stages and shared professional development across schools. There is an expectation that you will engage in cross-school collaboration which may require working on more than one site to meet the needs of the Education Service. The transition plans for the new structure may also mean you will work from an alternative site.

The post holder will be required to teach throughout Key Stages 3&4. You will be able to excite and challenge learners to make rapid progress and will be able to demonstrate excellence in teaching and learning. We are looking for someone who is passionate about raising learners’ individual achievements with innovative ideas to build on existing good practice.
