Job overview

The Royal Liberty School where “pupils are well behaved, respectful and courteous” and “parents value the sense of community, which is palpable throughout the school” (OFSTED February 2019).

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic Teacher of PE to join our department. PE is a popular subject and students achieve GCSE results above the national average.

This post would be very suitable for a newly qualified teacher looking for their first appointment. NQTs are fully supported by an induction programme delivered by the school and the Empower Alliance.

Royal Liberty School is a small, comprehensive, 11-16 school for boys. We occupy a Grade II listed building on a very pleasant site. As part of the Priority Schools Building Programme and Local Authority expansion we have undergone a full refurbishment of the school, ready for September.

As a result of the expansion we have enhanced our PE provision significantly. We now have two full size sports halls, a sports pavilion and have just received fantastic news that we will be able to refurbish our 25m swimming pool and make it an indoor facility. This is an exciting time to join our team! We are part of the Success for All Multi Academy Trust with Redden Court School and Sanders School. As an employee you will be covered by our excellent well-being support and medical cover programme through the School Advisory Service (SAS). We take a collaborative view of learning where good practice is shared through a structured INSET programme within school and across the Trust.

If you are looking to advance your career in a small, friendly supportive school and are committed to providing the very best experience for our students we would love to meet you. We welcome visitors to the school from potential applicants. Further details can be downloaded from our website www.royalliberty.co.uk or from Ms. C. Valentine, HR Assistant cvalentine@sfaet.co.uk T: 01708 730141 ext: 215.

As an employer we are committed to promoting career development and recognise hard work and effort. This is evident in the staff testimonials.

“We welcome enquiries from everyone and value diversity in our workforce. Applications are welcome from all sections of the community regardless of gender, gender identity, ethnic origin, disability, age or sexual orientation.”

The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

This post is subject to an enhanced disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service. The Royal Liberty School is an equal opportunities employer.

The Royal Liberty School is a popular, over-subscribed 11-16 school for boys.  We are located a short walk from Gidea Park Station on a beautiful grade II listed site.

In 2017 we joined the Success for All Educational Multi Academy Trust.  We are making extensive use of our partnership with Redden Court School to continually raise standards of teaching and learning and student outcomes.

From September 2018 we are expanding by 1 form of entry (to 5 forms) to meet the increasing demand for places.  We have received funding for an extensive refurbishment of our buildings.

We are a small school and have a strong sense of community.  Boys are proud to be a part of the school and this reflected on their excellent behaviour and eagerness to take on roles of responsibility and to represent us in the local community.

Staff and students have excellent relationships based on mutual respect.  All members of the school community are ambitious to succeed.  Students feel supported to achieve the very best they can and encouraged to develop the skills and qualities they need to be successful every stage of their life.
