Eric - Shaun Tan - Worksheets

This four-page worksheet guides students through an analysis of Shaun Tan’s Eric. Whether viewing the standalone version of the text or as part of Tales from Outer Suburbia, students will be able to consider ideas of the text, such as difference and understanding, including making judgements about the characters in the text. They will also examine key techniques like focalisation/point of view, juxtaposition, word choice, and some of the visual elements such as the use of colour.

In addition to the worksheet a resource page is included for teachers. This includes a range of discussion questions and a useful weblink to a Shaun Tan interview discussing the background of the book.

The worksheets are included in both Word and pdf formats to improve flexibility.
