Job overview
Derby College is looking to recruit a Curriculum Support Assistance (CSA) – Engineering, who is flexible, self-motivated and dedicated to student achievement and our commitment to teaching excellence. You will be required to support the teaching of engineering subjects in a practical workshop environment in accordance with health and safety guidelines, and ensure that the practical working environment is organised and resourced to an appropriate level. A good understanding of practical engineering tasks is required along with a desire to enhance learner's practical skills and support curriculum staff with their teaching.
This role is a supporting role which requires the successful candidate to assist the engineering staff during the practical based tasks, with coaching and assessment, gathering resources and dealing with Health and Safety issues and responsibilities. It offers an insight into teaching and is an excellent opportunity to starting in the teaching profession, therefore further training opportunities are available alongside this post.

Derby College is a large general further education college with four sites in or near the city of Derby. It supports around 26,000 learners, who choose from more than 1,000 full-time and part-time apprenticeship, A-level, BTEC and NVQ courses.
Derby College was established as a single institution in 2002 by merging three further education colleges: Mackworth Tertiary College, Wilmorton Tertiary College and Broomfield Agricultural College. A merger between South East Derbyshire College and Derby College was approved in 2010. Heavy investment has been made by the college in its teaching and learning facilities, from the fully equipped teaching kitchens at the Roundhouse campus to the high-tech science labs at the Joseph Wright Centre and the Equestrian Centre at the Broomfield Hall campus.
