About The Octagon AP Academy

Octagon AP Academy is a primary and secondary alternative provision (AP) academy situated in Wood Green, London. Our academy supports up to 68 learners who have experienced difficulties with their learning and behaviour in mainstream school. We are driven by a fully inclusive philosophy and want to empower our learners to become the best they can be, so that they can take their place and contribute successfully in the wider community.

At KS3 our learners follow a curriculum that consists of English, Maths, Science, ICT, PE and Vocational based subjects and are taught differentiated lessons in small, well supported groups. In addition, learners receive extra support for literacy and numeracy.

At KS4, learners access a range of GCSE subjects apart from the core subjects of English, Maths and Science, as well as a varied vocational offer which includes: Hair and Beauty, Food Technology, Design and Technology etc.

The foundation of our vision is to ensure our learners education is personalised to meet their individual needs and is designed to give them the necessary skills to access the next phase of their life. Our academic curriculum is also complemented by an enrichment programme of off-site activities for all learners and on-site therapeutic services which includes, Music Therapy, Speech and Language Therapy, Counselling etc.

The Octagon AP Academy prides itself on the work that it carries out with parents/carers and outside agencies to ensure that the academy is a safe and enjoyable place of education where learners are fully engaged, enthused, motivated and encouraged to have high aspirations. We are particularly successful at the reintegration of learners into mainstream education. We also work hard to make sure learners move into further education or employment, post-16.
