Pinc College is seeking to appoint a Part-time Learner Support based across our two Birmingham campuses. The role is for 5 days per week.

Job Type: Permanent, Part-time

Actual Salary for 5 days working 09.00h-15.00h is £ 21,226.80 per year. Term time only.

Our Learning Support Assistants are a valuable and vital part of the team. A unique position within the organisation that is key to student progress and wellbeing.

An overview of expectations:

  • Promote our Mission and Guiding Principles.
  • Undertake a specialist role using appropriate learning strategies, resources

and equipment to meet the learning objectives of lessons, differentiating

tasks as appropriate for individuals or groups of children with additional needs.

  • Demonstrate and model high expectations for progress and achievement
  • Within the guidance given Campus Lead or Teacher, implement individual,

group and intervention activities, working alongside and in conjunction with

professional teaching staff.

  • Support the regulation and SEND needs of students whilst they are undertaking their work to ensure a constructive environment and pre-empt/deal with situations arising

in accordance with policies and Universal strategies.

  • Adhere to and promote our habits for learning, Our Mission, Vision and Culture working within our Pinc Methodology and pedagogy.
  • Evaluate pupils' responses throughout learning activities, determine what

each student can achieve unaided and the point of intervention for the

provision of appropriate learning scaffolding.

  • Be aware of learner’s individual needs through Referrals, Pinc. reports and PEP or EHC plans.
  • Ensure that pupil’s Health & Safety is maintained in, around and out of the

Campus. Support educational tasks including supervised use of subject

specific tools, equipment and learning materials.

  • Help to prepare and maintain Campus resources (including control of stock

within the Campus) so that they are readily available for use. Take part

in Campus housekeeping before and after the sessions.

  • Liaise with and report any concerns or incidents/disclosures immediately to

Campus Lead Designated safeguarding lead, ensuring effective communication concerning the maintenance of students’ wellbeing.

  • Take part in creative activities alongside learners to model behaviour for

learning and inspire progress.

  • Document learner work/progress digitally- share via our Twitter and

Instagram accounts to celebrate.

  • Attend staff and other meetings and participate in team training development

work and reviews as required.

PINC Higher level Teaching Assistant:

Alongside your learning support you will at times take one to one and small group sessions. Your creative profession expertise will be embedded and impact learning.

You will not be expected to hold QTS, or plan and mark in line with the National Curriculum.

Experience of leading teams within Further Education, coupled with a solid background in SEND are essential, for this stand out opportunity. Extensive experience of leading pastorally in education/SEND and leading others within a team. You do not need to be a qualified Teacher.
