Job overview
We are seeking a passionate and creative Arts & Crafts Teacher for KS2 and KS3 to join our growing and diverse school community on a full-time basis from Autumn 2024. The ideal candidate will contribute to our vibrant and dynamic art department. The successful candidate will join a collaborative team of three other artists, collectively fostering an inspiring and supportive environment for students to explore and develop their artistic abilities.
Responsibilities:
- Curriculum Development: Design and implement engaging and innovative art curriculum in line with the school's academic standards, fostering creativity and critical thinking.
- Teaching and Instruction: Conduct effective art classes, providing instruction and guidance to students of varying skill levels. Create a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages artistic expression and exploration.
- Specialisation: Demonstrate expertise in running craft workshops and seasonal/festival crafts.
- Collaboration: Work collaboratively with the existing art department team to share ideas, resources, and best practices. Collaborate on cross-disciplinary projects and initiatives to enrich the overall artistic experience for students.
- Student Assessment: Assess and evaluate student work, providing constructive feedback to support their artistic growth. Monitor and track student progress, maintaining accurate records of their achievements.
- Classroom Management: Maintain a positive and organized classroom environment, ensuring the safety and well-being of students. Enforce school policies and procedures related to art materials and equipment.
- Community Engagement: Actively participate in school events, art exhibitions, and community outreach programs. Encourage student participation in extracurricular art activities and competitions.
- Professional Development: Stay updated on current trends, techniques, and educational methodologies in art education. Attend professional development opportunities to enhance your own skills and contribute to the growth of the art department.
Requirements:
- Teaching certification and/or relevant teaching experience.
- Experience working with children with SEND
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Passion for fostering creativity and artistic expression in students
