Job overview

Transforming Futures Trust has a rare and exciting opportunity for two exceptional leaders to join our expanding senior leadership team at ACE Schools. We are looking for a Deputy Headteacher and an Assistant Headteacher who want to be at the forefront of making life changing differences to a group of young people who deserve the very best we can offer in every aspect of their education.

ACE Schools is an alternative provision academy based in Plymouth with sites across Cornwall, Plymouth, and Devon. We support up to 500 pupils each year from KS1 to KS5. Pupils that we work with often have complex needs which mean they can’t currently attend mainstream or special school settings. Our aspiration for all pupils is that we can support them to return to a specialist or mainstream settings and our focus is providing our young people with the skills necessary to make this transition successful.

As Deputy Headteacher or Assistant Headteacher you will be at the forefront of leading our staff and pupils in one of the largest alternative provisions in the country with 11 bases across a 150-mile radius in the South West. We work with learners with a range of needs and challenges in their lives and our cohort includes a high proportion with Education Health care plans that support their learning. Our vision at ACE Schools is to make every single one of those learners Ready, Respectful and Safe in everything they do by supporting them to overcome their barriers and wrapping around them a package of curriculum, community and currency to help them achieve this.

These positions would suit dynamic and well qualified professionals who have had a range of leadership experiences from mainstream, special or alternative provision. You will be joining an experienced team and for this appointment it is vital to us that we meet the right candidates whose values align with ours. We are looking for applicants with a wide range of experience in all aspects of school leadership but as part of our ongoing whole school development we are particularly interested in candidates with evidence of impact, at leadership level, of developing curriculum, data and assessment, growing our own leaders and community outreach.

You will be joining the Trust at an exciting time in our development where we are due to bring a new school on board in 2023 and are already undertaking a wide range of school-to-school support work in the region.

If making a difference to an amazing group of young people and working with a proud and supportive staff group sounds like the next step in your career please read our applicant pack to learn more about the school and Trust.

For further information about this genuinely unique opportunity to work in one of the most interesting, dynamic and life changing schools you will have encountered you are welcome to call or visit to find out more

ACE Schools Plymouth AP Academy (part of Transforming Futures Trust) was formally set up on 1st June 2016 with the aim of building on the solid foundation established by the previous PRU. ACE Schools operates around Plymouth from at least eight different locations and provide education and support services throughout the community to support pupils to access education in schools, medical facilities or their own homes.

As an alternative provision Academy, ACE Schools Plymouth has developed a great reputation both locally and nationally for the work that it does.
