We have an exciting opportunity to appoint an Attendance and Safeguarding Assistant.

The purpose of the job is to undertake all administrative tasks associated with the recording, management and monitoring of attendance; working with individual pupils and their families to improve attendance. Supporting the Designated Safeguarding Lead in taking part in strategy discussions and meetings, contributing to the assessment of children and liaising with relevant agencies such as the local authority, children’s services and police.

Some key responsibilities will include:

  • Maintaining and updating accurate attendance records;
  • Making enquiries with parents / carers;
  • Support and liaise with Senior leaders and Family Support worker;
  • Report safeguarding concerns to the relevant authorities and refer cases to the Disclosure and Barring service and Police.

The successful candidate will need:

  • Have a good general education, including at least 2 A levels or equivalent.
  • Experience in handling large amounts of sensitive data and upholding the principles of confidentiality;
  • Knowledge of administration procedures;
  • Able to identify work priorities and manage own workload within agreed parameters;
  • Understand the difficulties that children may have in approaching staff about their circumstances;
  • To be willing undergo training;

A qualification related to working with children and young people and experience of working in an educational environment would be an advantage but not essential.
