About The Chalfonts Independent Grammar School

The Chalfonts Independent Grammar School is a small, independent International Baccalaureate (IB) World School, authorised to offer the IB Middle Years Programme (IGCSE equivalent) and IB Diploma Programme (A Level equivalent) to children from 11 to 18 years old.

We have small classes with a maximum of 14 students, focused on developing good habits and a strong work ethic through inquiry-based learning. Our IB programmes provide students with opportunities to explore, inquire and develop confidence. We have a strong drive for school improvement underpinned by a relentless focus on the core business of improving teaching and learning. 

About the Position

Contract type: Flexible (part-time or full-time depending on subjects offered)

Salary: Dependent on experience

Start date: 1st September 2024 (Earlier start may be possible)

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Fostering students’ critical thinking skills through inquiry-based and hands-on learning experiences.
  • Creating and administering assessments that meet IB assessment standards, providing constructive feedback to students.
  • Deliver engaging and rigorous Chemistry lessons in alignment with the IB curriculum.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Proven experience teaching Chemistry and/or Science.
  • A degree in Chemistry or a relevant field.
  • Experience teaching the IB curriculum is desirable, but not essential.
  • Patience, empathy, and the ability to create a positive learning environment.
  • The ability to be a positive role model.

The ideal candidate should:

  • Be an outstanding classroom practitioner.
  • Have initiative, vision, excellent planning, and organisational skills.
