This is an exciting opportunity for an inspiring and aspirational class teacher who is able to work with efficacy both independently and as part of a collaborative team. Applicants will join an award winning, innovative, forward-thinking and committed team who work closely together within the Early Years setting to provide an exciting and nurturing Early Years experience. The position would suit dynamic teachers who are able to inspire pupils of all abilities. Experience of teaching in Early Years is essential as is a thorough up-to-date knowledge and experience of the EYFS statutory framework and related curriculums. An ability to plan and respond to both child and adult led learning opportunities is essential, as is a commitment to developing the children’s characteristics of effective learning and their ability to see themselves as valued and skilled learners.

The teacher will be responsible for teaching a revised version of the EYFS which reflects the philosophy the school and our commitment to a frequently child-led approach which creatively responds to each unique child, valuing their fascinations and play. The successful candidate will have the ability to ‘plan in the moment’, use sustained shared thinking to extend and enrich learning and understand the importance of developing children’s skills and learning opportunities within our indoor and outdoor continuous provision.

The successful applicant will be keen to work closely with the full Early Years team and support children’s learning across the whole cohort as well as within their own class, ensuring a cohesive vision and experience for all the children. They will be driven to provide experiences which enrich and extend the children’s thinking and world experience and be keen to involve our parental community in this journey.

The successful applicant will foster positive relationships with the whole school community and be able to work cooperatively with the teaching assistants and specialist teachers.

The successful candidate will be expected to:

  • Manage and deliver the teaching of an EYFS class as well as teaching across the cohort through play based interactions in our free flow indoor and outdoor Reception setting
  • Maintain and manage a caring, supportive, purposeful, and stimulating environment which is conducive to children’s learning.
  • Be passionate about creating an exceptional enabling environment where continuous provision is of the highest standard and be able to enhance and develop this provision to meet the skills, needs and interests of the children.
  • Plan, prepare and deliver high quality, interactive and engaging lessons across the curriculum that meet the needs of all children and where possible reflect their interests and broader learning journey.
  • Use our online learning journal to both record observations, assess development and inform and engage with families.
  • Plan opportunities to develop spiritual, moral, social, and cultural aspects of pupils’ learning.
  • Monitor and be responsible for the progress of individual students, including thorough observations, assessment, recording and reporting.
  • Implement strategies to support SEND and EAL pupils in the classroom.
  • Promote high standards of behaviour among the pupils, safeguarding their health and safety.
  • Attend and participate in staff meetings, briefings, and planning meetings, INSET days and to share in a range of supervisory duties throughout the day.
  • Ensure that school policies are reflected in daily practice.
  • Promote strong relationships with parents and carers, communicating with them about all aspects of their child’s education – academic, social, and emotional.

Under the leadership of the Head, teachers use the attractive buildings and play areas to maximum advantage, teaching a broad and balanced curriculum which gives a wide variety of experiences, and emphasises the importance of basic skills. The curriculum is based on the National Curriculum and Primary Strategy, but goes far beyond this, both within the school day and during the wide range of co-curricular activities and visits outside of School. Children are encouraged to explore the world around them and every day is an opportunity for new adventure.
