Bloxham School is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and innovative Computer Science Teacher. The ideal teacher will be able to teach Computer Science at all levels, be passionate about teaching and have the drive to succeed in the classroom.

COMPUTER SCIENCE AT BLOXHAM SCHOOL

The Computer Science department offers students a full computer science curriculum from KS3 with the option to continue through to earn both GCSE and A Level qualification. In addition to delivering the subject specific skills required for course specifications, we also cover a range of broader digital literacy skills to ensure that our students are not only expert users of technology throughout the school but are also prepared for higher education and the wider world of work.

The Computer Science department resides within the Raymond Technology Centre and makes use of a well-resourced computer room (comprising of adjustable monitors with docking stations, interactive whiteboard, BBC micro: bits and raspberry Pi’s). Currently, we have students taking the Cambridge International A level and iGCSE Computer Science courses. Preceding this, our students experience a full KS3 computer science curriculum, including units on online safety, web design, mobile app development, cybersecurity, and Python programming.

Working Hours: Part Time (possibly Full Time if suitable second subject offered).

Salary: Bloxham salary scale, dependent on experience

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Essential Criteria

• A degree in Computer Science or related subject.
• PGCE qualified or equivalent.
• Excellent classroom practitioner.
• Willing to develop pedagogy and knowledge of the subject to increase student engagement and uptake at GCSE/A Level.
• An innovative approach to student learning and the ability to stretch our brightest students whilst engaging students of all abilities.
• Good classroom management which promotes student learning.
• Ability to be self-motivated, and a team player.
• Confident user of IT to enhance learning both within and outside the classroom.
• The emotional intelligence to contribute to the school’s extensive pastoral programme and to be committed to the Tutor role.
• To be in alignment with the ethos of Bloxham School, including a commitment to the broader curriculum.
• A proven record of reflection and continuous professional development to your practice in the past and a willingness to continue to do so in the future.
