An exciting opportunity has arisen to become the Curriculum Director for Science at Selby High School. If you have already made an impact through a significant leadership role within a science department, and you are ready for the next step in your career, then come and join us at Selby High to take our high performing science team on the next stage of its journey.  We’re looking for a creative and inspirational leader, with excellent understanding of curriculum development, and a proven track record of gaining excellent results, to lead our science team, which has gone from strength to strength in recent years.

We can offer the successful candidate the opportunity to work in a caring school where students achieve and make sustained progress as a result of our ‘can do’ ethos and where your contribution to the science department and the school as a whole, will be valued. Working in a friendly, aspirational school community, we invite you to join us in our commitment to inspire every student with the skills, resilience, and confidence they need to achieve their potential. As a leader within the school, we have an extensive CPD programme to support you in your career, including access to the full suite of NPQs. We also provide all our staff with a laptop computer.

This is a critical leadership role in our school and offers the successful candidate the chance to take an influential role in developing whole school strategy, contributing to the wider teaching and learning agenda, as well as leading the science team. We are looking to appoint an outstanding teacher and leader, who possesses the ability, drive and desire to:

●       Implement a high-quality curriculum

●       Lead by example in developing learning and teaching

●       Take a highly visible and key role within the school

●       Help lead, motivate and develop an effective team of science teachers

●       Make a difference to the life chances of all our students

Excellent learning and teaching is at the heart of all that we do and is supported with a full professional development programme and outstanding induction programme.

Visits to the school from prospective candidates are welcome; visits can be organised by contacting the SLT PA, Caroline Airth on 01757 244833 or admin@selbyhigh.co.uk. Selby is located in picturesque North Yorkshire and benefits from good commuter links with York and Leeds.

We are committed to meeting the needs of our diverse community and aim to have a workforce reflecting this diversity. We are also committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and adults. We have a robust child protection policy and all staff will receive training relevant to their role at induction and throughout employment at the school. We expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. This post is subject to satisfactory references and enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service criminal records check for work with children. An online search may be undertaken for shortlisted candidates as part of the recruitment process on information available in the public domain. Candidates should disclose anything that may be relevant in line with Keeping Children Safe in Education.
