Job overview
The Deputy Head (Academic) of the Junior School will be an experienced and enthusiastic teacher, ideally with some experience of leadership and proven experience in management. They will have an extensive knowledge and understanding of teaching children in the 4-11 age range.
The Deputy Head (Academic) will be responsible for the leadership and management of all academic aspects of the Junior School. They will be a member of the Junior School’s Senior Leadership Team and also represent the Junior School at a whole school level with regard to academic matters.
The successful candidate will play a pivotal role supporting the Head of the School in the day-to-day organisation and running of the Junior School.
As Deputy Head Academic you will:
- Proven experience of management and ideally some experience of leadership
- Work as part of the Junior School’s Senior Leadership Team to produce The Junior School strategic development plan in line with the strategic objectives of The School
- Provide leadership in promoting a safeguarding culture among all staff and pupils as befits a senior leader
- Create the annual timetable and academic staffing model, including weekly deployment of staff
