Do you want to be part of the Sharples’ success story?

Sharples School Multi-Academy Trust is an oversubscribed mixed comprehensive with 1,200 pupils on roll, situated in the North of Bolton in pleasant surroundings. The school provides stimulating and innovative opportunities for learning, transforming the aspirations and educational outcomes for all students and the local community. Sharples was judged ‘Good’ at its last inspection in 2019, with areas of outstanding practice.

 This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic and dynamic leader to join an experienced and successful leadership team. Our motto is ‘Learn. Dream. Achieve.’ We have high expectations and a strong commitment to enabling every child, regardless of background, to go on to further or Higher Education or the career of their choice.

 Following the promotion to Headteacher of one of our Deputy Headteachers, the governors are seeking to recruit an outstanding and motivated candidate with a passion for school improvement who can, along with the Headteacher and SLT, provide strategic leadership for our ambitious learning community.

 Our Ofsted report from June 2019 truly reflects our school achievements and ethos and I urge you to read it for an even fuller picture of what we have to offer. We are a vibrant learning community with a committed and aspirational staff and we endeavour to bring out the very best in each one of our young people. Ofsted noted that ‘every pupil is provided with the building blocks they need to help them be successful’ and pupils ‘told inspectors that staff go the ‘extra mile’ for them to help them do their best’.

 This post will offer the successful candidate the opportunity to build or extend their leadership profile towards headship, in a school that has shown continuous improvement and one which means to be an outstanding school in the near future.

We can offer you:-

  • the chance to play a significant role in shaping the school’s future;
  • a school with an excellent reputation for success with supportive governors and parents;
  • a school that is totally committed to school improvement;
  • an extensive staff CPD programme;
  • the full support of a talented and professional team of staff

We require a professional who:-

  • is an excellent communicator;
  • is an excellent teacher;
  • has proven leadership skills;
  • is a strategic thinker with the ability to motivate and inspire colleagues and students;
  • has the energy, commitment and enthusiasm to help us to realise our vision to become outstanding;
  • aspires to headship
