Tes is currently supporting a friendly and supportive all-girls independent school, based in Hertfordshire. The school is looking to add a Deputy SENCo to its progressive and supportive school ideally starting in April 2022.

The role will include supporting and coordinating the delivery of SEN/D provision across the whole school. You will be innovative and will support the SENCo to coordinate the SEN provision across the school supporting all learners to achieve to the best of their abilities. You'll lead from the front and will support and will deputise for the SENCo when needed.

“The Individual Needs department at the school screens, identifies and supports students with additional learning needs and helps them to achieve their potential. The open-door nature of the department benefits all students and especially those with learning difficulties and disabilities, who are well supported through access arrangements and individual attention. The department acts as a referral point for teachers who have concerns about a student, and once identified, students are given the skills to help them progress independently. Those who might be eligible for additional exam arrangements are assessed in school, and the department also offers training to staff to raise awareness of the sorts of difficulties students might experience, to make a more inclusive environment for pupils to thrive in. The school is offering:

• A super supportive and highly visible SLT team and Headteacher;

• on-going CPD with programmes of study such as NPQML and MA in Educational Leadership

• progression support throughout the school and wider group

• the chance to take on further responsibility such as TLR or Leadership roles in the future.

The school expects:

• A UK teaching qualification such as PGCE/PGDE, SCITT, BEd or MEd with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

• a relevant SEN coordination (Level 7) qualification (desirable)

• experience of delivering SEN/D coordination across the whole school supporting secondary school learners

• a love and passion for education.
