Job overview

Director of Marketing, Admissions and Community Engagement

Salary: Highly competitive Package

NLCS Jeju opened its doors in 2011, established in partnership between North London Collegiate School, UK and the South Korean government. The school - with its excellent outcomes, dedicated staff and world-class facilities - has proven to be an extremely popular choice with parents from Seoul, Busan and farther afield. IGCSE and IB results are formidable and students matriculate to some of the best universities in the world. It is an exceptional education based on high academic standards and a deep commitment to providing a well-rounded education.

This is an exceptional opportunity for a commercially minded, strategic marketing, business development or communications/engagement professional to join a senior team of the highest calibre. Reporting directly to the Principal, and a member of the Senior Leadership Team, the Director of Marketing, Admissions and Community Engagement will provide inspiring strategic team leadership, be responsible for ensuring the effective marketing and promotion of NLCS Jeju to all stakeholders, both internal and external, and for the recruitment of students into the School.

As a key public face of the School, the successful candidate will have the skills, presence personality and judgement required to represent NLCS Jeju to a wide range of audiences. The ability to apply sound marketing and communications principles to drive the School’s pupil recruitment strategy, by thoroughly understanding both target audiences and the dynamics of the highly competitive local, regional and international marketplace will also be essential.

The post will most likely attract an experienced professional from the education sector with a track record of success in strategic marketing, communications and brand management, preferably in combination with prior exposure to an admissions, student recruitment and/or a stakeholder engagement context. Alternatively, the role might suit an exceptional individual with commercial experience gained outside the sector but who can demonstrate an understanding of, and empathy with, international education and the School's ethos and values, and with the relevant transferable skills to undertake and make a success of this crucial role.

NLCS Jeju was the first NLCS International School to open its doors in 2011. It is located on the island of Jeju, in South Korea, but its proud heritage is from the United Kingdom, where in 1850 education pioneer Frances Mary Buss established the North London Collegiate School.

In just a few years NLCS Jeju has earned a reputation as one of the most prestigious and successful schools in East Asia. IB Diploma results are outstanding and the school’s graduates are attending some of the world’s leading universities, including Oxbridge and Ivy League colleges.

In keeping with the NLCS philosophy, the curriculum is aspirational and provides significant academic challenge for students. Students sit iGCSE examinations at the end of Year 11 and follow the IB Diploma Programme through Years 12 and 13.

NLCS Jeju offers a highly competitive salary and benefits package including accommodation, flights, health insurance and free places at the school for teachers’ children.

Location

The school is located on the picturesque island of Jeju, in South Korea, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is also the first international school to be opened as part of the Global Education City on Jeju Island, which is becoming the centre of English education in Korea and the pre-eminent educational hub of Asia.

Jeju Island, 130km off the southern coast of the Korean peninsula, is often described as one of Asia’s best-kept secrets. Jeju’s temperate climate, natural scenery and beaches make it a popular tourist destination for South Koreans as well as visitors from other parts of East Asia.
