Glebe School is an outstanding secondary special school for pupils with moderate learning difficulties and complex needs, including autistic spectrum disorders.  

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, patient and empathetic Family Liaison Officer who is passionate about improving outcomes for pupils.  You will be a key person, providing support within our Inclusion Team. You will work closely with children and their families, supporting pupils in school with their learning needs, as well as working with external agencies. 

You should:

• Engage positively, provide support and intervention, early help, wellbeing support and advocacy

• Promote, strengthen, develop and maintain an active partnership between pupils/parents/school by working creatively and positively with parents/carers, to achieve maximum involvement in their child’s education through support and signposting to services

• Act as a champion of the school’s safeguarding policy and procedures and assist the DSL and Deputy DSL with safeguarding and attendance matters

• Have an understanding of special educational needs and the issues which might affect pupil and family wellbeing

• Have a knowledge and understanding of the barriers faced by our diverse school community

• Be adept with interpersonal, communication and planning skills

• Have ICT capabilities

• Be a Team player, have a strong work ethic and a sense of humour


We expect our Family Liaison Officer to have:

• A commitment to contributing to the positive ethos and strategic direction of the school

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

• An enthusiastic and motivated approach

• Full Driving License for off-site Business Usage such as Home visits and meetings

The salary for this role is: NJC Outer London Scale 5, points 12-17   £25,578 - £27,966 (actual starting salary £20,535 - £22,452). You will work from 8.30am to 4pm, term time only. Support staff have a 39 weeks per year contract, with the hours worked over 38 weeks.  

Staff must attend occasional INSET training on Tuesdays/Thursdays after school (dates known in advance), to make up a 39-week term time only contract; worked over 38 weeks to allow for a two- week autumn half term.
