We seek to appoint an ambitious, enthusiastic and highly motivated teacher of Geography, with a real passion for teaching and learning. The successful candidate will be able to promote the highest standards of achievement and have a good knowledge and understanding of recent developments in the subject. The Geography department achieves outstanding examination results, is committed to fieldwork and runs numerous trips in Key Stage 3 and 4 to study rivers, coasts, regeneration and sustainable urban development amongst other topics and in Key Stage 5 to London and Dorset
Geography is a popular choice at GCSE and A-level, and we are constantly looking to widen the experiences we offer to students. You will join an innovative, capable team and teach enthusiastic, well-disciplined young people, committed to their learning and proud to be part of The Bishop’s Stortford High School.
Educating approximately 1250 students, The Bishop’s Stortford High School provides a single-sex education for boys in Years 7 to 11 and has a thriving mixed sixth form of close to 400 students, including 120 female students. As a result of excellent teaching, our students consistently achieve fantastic academic outcomes at both GCSE and A-Level. “Behaviour is exemplary in lessons and around the school.” which means the school has a calm atmosphere and students are ready to learn. "Pupils are polite, well-mannered and kind.” and “are ambassadors for the school, demonstrating excellent behaviours in all that they do.” (Ofsted 2023)
In the summer, the school will be relocating to a new site less than a mile from our current location. This exciting project will provide us with a fantastic new learning environment, supported by cutting edge technology, and huge opportunities for the future. Our vast list of extra-curricular activities and trips means students engage positively with school and represent our values with pride. Staff turnover is low, as they feel well-supported and enjoy working here, with many choosing the school for their own children.

Educating 1200 students, The Bishop’s Stortford High School provides a single-sex education for boys in Years 7 to 11 and has a large, thriving co-educational sixth form, with over one hundred girls on roll. Last year our students achieved 84% 5 A*-C (Inc. English & Maths) at GCSE and 55% A*-B at A-Level.
