Job overview

10-Month Contract

(September 2024)

We are looking for an outstanding Graduate Assistant to join a thriving and wellestablished Sports Department.

The successful candidate will have excellent knowledge and coaching experience, specifically within Hockey. Knowledge and coaching experience in either of our other core sports, Rugby and Cricket, would be advantageous. The role is suitable for recent graduates who are looking to start a career in the independent sector or an individual who has previously specialised in Hockey coaching. The individual should be both ambitious in terms of developing and building on their own skillset, as well as setting and delivering high standards to the pupils they coach. They should also have the ability to work in an environment where teachers often collaborate, and team teach classes. Athletic development sits at the heart of the PE programme, with any experience or qualifications in this field strengthening an application.

We would also welcome relevant qualifications in first aid, pool lifesaving and any sports specific accreditations, as well as playing experience.

Please complete an application form; you may wish to add a brief CV.

About Merchant Taylors' School

Merchant Taylors' is an independent day school of more than 850 students. Taylors' is well-known for the high academic and sporting standards our boys achieve, but also for its warm, friendly atmosphere and our boys' support for each other and commitment to their community.

At MTS we believe in the virtues of an all-round education that emphasises a rich sporting and cultural programme. MTS has always valued itself as an unpressured school where boys are free to grow and discover their own character through diverse sources of personal fulfilment. The Good School Guide notes: "The school’s philosophy... is about achievement without pressure: it’s a place to breathe and experience a childhood."

The boys enjoy superb facilities and a fantastic campus: 286 acres of lakes and countryside where Middlesex, Buckinghamshire and Hertfordshire meet, with over 55 acres devoted to sport. Boys travel in from Hertfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Middlesex, yet the school is just 25 minutes from central London on the Metropolitan line and 10 minutes from both the M1 and M25.
