At Thorns Collegiate Academy, we require an enthusiastic, hard-working, and creative teacher to lead Business Studies. This post will involve teaching Business Studies across Key Stage 4, but may also include a requirement to teach our bespoke Key Stage 3 curriculum, Literacy for Life.

The successful candidate will be joining a close-knit team of highly professional staff who are committed to the improvement journey of a school that has recently been judged as Requires Improvement after entering Special Measures in 2016.

As part of Shireland Collegiate Academy Trust, an established Multi-Academy Trust of primary and secondary academies across the West Midlands, Thorns is a school that offers progression and opportunities at all levels, and the successful candidate can expect to be developed into the best practitioner they can be.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To develop, plan and deliver effective and high-quality learning experiences for all the students they teach
  • Be accountable for the learning and achievement of all the students they teach
  • To liaise with teaching colleagues across the school to support strategic development, share good practice and plan collaborative activities

The successful candidate will:

  • Have experience teaching across Key Stage 3 and 4; applications from newly qualified teachers are also welcome
  • Be a consistently good/outstanding teacher
  • Be an exceptional classroom practitioner with high expectations of both learning and behaviour
  • Able to inspire, motivate and enthuse pupils
  • Be committed to raising standards for all and share the same drive to constantly learn and improve
  • Show willingness to lead initiatives and show evidence of impact
  • Demonstrate a passion to make a difference to others
  • Be proficient with the use of technology for learning and have a willingness to innovate
