As Head of Creative Digital Media Production, you will have the relevant skills and experience to teach Digital Literacy at KS3, and Creative Digital Media Production at KS5.

Overview

We are looking for a Head of Creative Digital Media Production who is an excellent communicator, dynamic teacher, and whose organisational skills will enable all pupils to succeed and progress while enjoying their learning.

You will design and deliver the Level 3 BTEC course in Creative Digital Media Production, and collaborate with the Head of Computer Science on, and deliver, the Digital Literacy curriculum to KS3.

Should you be successful, you will be required to carry out the general professional duties of a schoolteacher under the reasonable direction of the Deputy Head (Academic) and to perform such duties that from time to time which may be assigned to you by the Headmaster. You would also commit to contribute to the co-curricular life and pastoral support provided by the school. You will have a desire to continually reflect on and develop your teaching practice while becoming part of our school community.

The Creative Arts Department

The Design and Technology Department (DT) is housed in a state-of-the-art studio and workshop that first opened in 2020 and continues to develop its facilities. There is a creative design studio, equipped with a set of mobile computers with CAD/CAM software provision (SolidWorks) and large format digital output devices for pupils. There is an open plan workshop bay, a projects area, an advanced manufacturing suite, staff office, preparation room with store and staff specific equipment.This is a growing department that focuses on putting our creative arts and design students at the forefront of digital development, promoting design creativity, advanced manufacturing techniques, electronic development and generating enthusiasm for wider disciplines associated with the world of Digital Design and Engineering.

Essential for Head of Creative Digital Media Production

  • A good degree in a relevant discipline and/or relevant industry experience
  • Excellent subject knowledge
  • The ability to work collaboratively and independently
  • Experience and/or ability to teach Creative Digital Media Production to Y12 and Y13
  • Proficiency with creative software e.g. Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Premier Pro, After Effects) and Final Cut Pro
  • Experience of design and project-based work with students
  • Familiarity with film and media theory
  • Familiarity with and experience of game design and esports
  • Excellent classroom practitioner with exceptional classroom management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organisational skills and the flexibility to take on new challenges
  • The ability to work collaboratively and independently
  • Understanding of cloud-based technologies and digital innovation

Desirable for Head of Creative Digital Media Production

  • A recognised teaching qualification with QTS (or an ability to achieve QTS)

This position is a permanent, full-time role although flexible working conditions may be considered.

The school operates its own pay scales and will offer a salary commensurate with experience and the nature of this role.
