Governors are seeking to appoint a dynamic and energetic specialist who seeks to inspire and enthuse students, and who can lead the development of our music department.

 

St Thomas More is a good school (Ofsted 2022) committed to high standards of growth and professional development. The school is popular – always oversubscribed beyond our admission limit – and well respected in the local community. We are a successful school with a large sixth form located near Willenhall, with easy access to the M6 motorway network. We welcome and encourage informal visits. 

 

The qualities we are looking for include:

 

·      The ability to lead and develop excellent Music and Performing Arts teaching across key stage 3, 4 and 5;

·      Confident, lively, fun and comfortable using a range of teaching and learning styles;

·      The ability to lead the continued development of key stage 4 and 5 courses including the Eduqas GCSE and A Level Music syllabus;

·      The ability to lead on our Level 2 and 3 BTEC Performing Arts courses.

·      The ability to rehearse and assist in the directing of choir and musical ensembles and take the lead on musical requirements for whole school services and concerts;

·      Maintain the close working relationship with our music HUB Walsall Music and Education Service and management and leadership of our peripatetic instrumental teachers;

·      Enthusiasm for working with young people and a good understanding of the development of the musical skills children need to become high achievers in key stage 3, 4 and 5;

·      A willingness to work as part of a team are essential.
