We are an outstanding inclusive school in south London seeking a Head of Music teacher for a September start. We are values led putting students at the heart of everything we do. Our School:


  • The school is a genuinely inclusive mixed 11–18 comprehensive school adjacent to North Dulwich station and serving a diverse local inner-city community
  • We were judged ‘outstanding’ by Ofsted in 2022 again, and have been awarded “World Class School” status again in 2019
  • Our exam results in 2022 were excellent with 60% of students achieving an A*-A at A-Level and 79% of students achieving a good pass in English and Maths at GCSE

  • In the 2022 Staff Survey 88% of staff said they are proud to work at our school and 90% agreed that the school is well led and managed
  • We receive 1,200 Year 7 applications, every year, for 192 places


We are looking for an outstanding colleague who will: 


  • To ensure the smooth running of the Music Department and take a lead role in the development and delivery of the subject. 
  • To ensure the smooth running of the Music Department and take a lead role in the development and delivery of all performances and initiatives both internally and externally. 
  • To own the monitoring of student progress and ensuring high levels of attainment 
  • Be accountable for delivering high levels of music by promoting the status and enjoyment of the subject 


  • Plan a diverse programme of concerts and musical events both formal and informal each year to challenge and display the work of choirs, orchestras, bands, chamber groups and other ensembles and to give performing opportunities for all musicians 

 

 

  • To ensure effective teaching in Music, so that lessons are challenging and exciting, evaluating the quality of teaching and standards of pupils’ achievement, and setting targets for improvement  

 

  • To provide all those with involvement in the teaching or support of Music the help, challenge, information and development necessary to sustain motivation and secure improvement in teaching 
  •  
  • Consistently models excellent practice and has students' achievement and progress at the forefront of their teaching.
  •      Has the ability to teach Music at key stage 3 and 4 (KS5 experience would be an advantage)
  •      Wants an exciting opportunity to work in a vibrant organisation that makes a difference to our young people’s lives.

The Charter School North Dulwich is a fully inclusive mixed 11 - 18 community school, serving an inner city catchment area and achieves significantly above national norms. The school converted to academy status in September 2010.
