The Stamford Schools have an exciting opportunity for a Head of Swimming to lead our successful swimming program across the Stamford schools (Nursery-Y13).

The Head of Swimming is a leadership post and will be responsible for shaping and articulating a swimming philosophy and vision unique to Stamford that delivers a strategic, tactical and technical dimension at all levels, with the aim of a holistic approach in the provision of both performance and participation. The Head of Swimming will be the ‘go to’ person for all matters related to the sport at Stamford School.

Position: Head of Swimming

Key Responsibilities:

  • To produce a clear and coherent plan for the systematic development of swimming, with clearly identified short, medium and long term goals and the related schemes of work in both curriculum PE and Games.
  • Communicate the swimming philosophy and vision to pupils, coaches and staff and to inspire a sense of commitment to the successful advancement of swimming at Stamford.
  • To assist in the running and implementation of major and minor overseas tours when required.
  • To monitor and mentor elite swimmers, liaising with clubs and performance pathways.
  • Work in conjunction with P.E. staff at Stamford school to support Physical Education & Games teaching and to manage/coach teams as necessary.
  • Work in conjunction with the Head of Academic PE in the annual assessment of GCSE and A-Level PE candidates.
  • Support and encourage all staff teaching & coaching swimming through the provision of Inset and the promotion of regular clinics.

Requirements:

  • A wide experience of teaching and coaching swimming in both participation and performance.
  • Swimming and coaching Level 2.
  • Experience in leading and developing Sports programmes.
  • Be an approachable team leader with an ability to inspire others to work collaboratively.
  • Has a vision for Swimming at Stamford and can clearly identify the steps and tools required to achieve it.
  • Ability to promote and foster team work leading and supporting other teachers, coaches & volunteers.
  • A good track record of successfully managing teams of staff and students.
  • Experience of working successfully within a swimming club or in a similar position within an educational establishment.
  • Proven experience of developing and implementing high quality coaching sessions.

This is a term-time only position. The salary is dependent on qualifications and experience.
