Hours: Full time; Monday – Friday, 08:00 – 4:30pm

Riverbank School is a specialist school helping young people to overcome social and emotional barriers to learning. We currently have capacity for 20 students aged 5-11 with complex SEMH needs. With the support of our inhouse Clinical team we provide a therapeutic approach to education to help support our students to achieve their individual tailored goals.


What you’ll be doing:

As a motivated and innovative Head Teacher, this role will allow you to fulfil your passion for making a difference in the lives of children and young people. You will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day running and management of the school, including management of teaching and non-teaching staff. You will be under reasonable duties of the Director of Education, carrying out the professional duties of a Head teacher as set out in current teacher standards.

You will be responsible for:

  • Managing the day-to-day running of the Riverbank School.
  • Leading the development of curriculum timetables.
  • Implementing strategies to ensure the SEMH needs of all children in the school are met.
  • Ensuring the needs of all staff and children in the school are met.


We are looking for someone with:

  • Experience leading a school.
  • Experience managing an education staff team.
  • Leadership and management experience is essential.
  • Experience of working with children with an EHCP.
  • Experience of working as a SENCo, with a SENCo qualification is desirable.
  • PGCE with QTS.
  • The ability to teach a range of subjects in line with the National Curriculum.
  • Experience of working with children with SEMH needs is preferred, though not essential.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal skills and a passion for bettering the lives of children and young people who require help and educational support.
  • A willingness to undertake further training in order to become Safeguarding Lead.
