Position Information 

Kurri Kurri High School is set in the semi-rural area of the Hunter Valley. It is a proud local high school that has serviced the local area since 1956. Many families have generational patronage to the high school and these strong local links to community continue to offer opportunities to students. 80 staff support the school with the academic, social and emotional development of the young people in our care. The school has a population of 920 in 2024 and has 9 support classes in Kuta Kaya. The school has dedicated programs for the 250 students who proudly identify as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander. The school's tagline is 'creating futures'. The unique nature of the school architecture centres around the creation of a staged approach to learning. HUB learning, global citizenship and future pathways define the stages of learning as the blue print for student learning and success. Student agency is fostered through SRC, Interact and Junior AECG to help to make the decisions of the school in improvements and ways of thinking, learning and working.

  
Specific Selection Criteria 
Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position.
In addition to the general selection criteria, Strong capacity to work collaboratively and successfully with the school executive team to lead, manage and implement systems, processes and initiatives that address whole school strategic priorities.

Proven ability to lead the Creative and Performing Arts faculty in the facilitation of high-quality teaching and learning, curriculum implementation, programming, assessment and resource development. 

Demonstrated outstanding capacity to build a culture of excellence in catering for a diverse range of learners.

Demonstrated ability to increase educational outcomes for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students, in a positive, engaging and culturally inclusive learning environment.

 

  
General Selection Criteria 
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy
 
Conditions 

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
