About The Aldgate School
The Aldgate School is a mixed, mainstream Church of England primary school for students aged three to eleven. Located in the City of London, this voluntary-aided state school has approximately 30 pupils in each year.
The Aldgate School was formerly known as Sir John Cass’s Foundation Primary School, named after John Cass who founded the school in 1710 in the churchyard of St Botolph without Aldgate. The school is supported by The Portal Trust (formerly Sir John Cass’s Foundation). The school stands in a Grade II listed building, which dates back to 1908.

Vision and values
The school strives to provide a stimulating and balanced curriculum for every child. Targeted support is used to tailor education to every individual. Teachers and students uphold five British values as their motto: democracy, rule of law, individual liberty, mutual respect and tolerance of those of different faiths and beliefs. These values are promoted through PSHE (personal, social, health and emotional education) and religious education. Daily collective worship concentrates on different cultures and faiths to further these ideals.
The primary school specialises in sports and music. Music is at the heart of the curriculum at The Aldgate School. Students enjoy weekly music lessons from specialist teachers in singing, percussion, strings and hand drumming. Sports are equally important to the students and the school takes part in everything from hockey, netball and cross-country running to cricket and football.
Ofsted report
"Pupils’ achievement is outstanding. All groups of pupils, including disabled pupils and those who have special educational needs, make exceptional progress from their starting points."
