Are you committed to making a difference in a rapidly improving school? If so, we are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Inclusion provision higher level teaching assistant to join us in our Turnaround Centre!

Ofsted October 2023 'Pupils and staff at the school are right to identify the Dean Trust Wigan as an improving school...The school has high expectations for pupils’ academic achievement. Pupils understand how they should behave. Most pupils meet the school’s raised expectations for behaviour. In lessons, most pupils embody the school’s values of ‘be ready, be respectful, be responsible’ through their improved attitudes to learning'.

The Turnaround Centre provides bespoke intervention to support pupils in mainstream education that are struggling to demonstrate the Dean Trust Way of 'Be ready, be respectful, be responsible'. Candidates are expected to demonstrate their experience and impact with supporting pupils who can present as challenging and have multiple needs in their supporting statement.

We are looking to recruit a Higher Level Teaching Assistant who is determined to raise standards across all levels and abilities and further contribute to the progress of our pupils. Playing a key role in driving the school forward as we continue to rapidly accelerate progress in all key areas of the school through our high standards and expectations.

Dean Trust Wigan is part of The Dean Trust, which has a number of very high performing schools and a proven track record of sustained improvement. The Dean Trust’s core values include traditional academic education, excellent discipline and respect, resulting in improved attainment and progress. “Believe, Achieve, Succeed” has been embraced by all of the schools in The Dean Trust.

You will join a dedicated team at Dean Trust Wigan who ensure that every pupil is given the opportunity to achieve their full potential. Our teachers strive to pass on their enthusiasm for teaching and learning and engage pupils in fun and relevant activities.

You will work under the guidance of teaching/senior staff to undertake and provide work/support programmes, to enable access to learning for all pupils and to assist the teacher in the management of pupils within the classroom. You may also be required to supervise groups of pupils undertaking activities in non-teaching situations.

Applications are invited from successful teaching assistants who can demonstrate the ability to:

  • assist in enabling pupils to achieve the highest possible standards
  • work motivationally within a team of staff
  • assist in raising attainment at all levels
  • inspire students to love the subject
  • work effectively with staff, parents and the community

This post offers an excellent opportunity for a candidate with a vision to inspire students in a 21st century learning environment. This post offers an excellent opportunity for a candidate who wants to help pupils develop into confident, successful and responsible adults who play an active part in society, regardless of their background or prior achievements.

We are highly committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all pupils and we expect all our staff to share this commitment. Enhanced DBS vetting procedures are required for all posts.

Closing Date: 8:00am Thursday 16th May 2024

Interviews: Wednesday 22nd May 2024
