We are looking for an outstanding Secondary IB Computer Science Teacher to join our growing Secondary school in September 2024!

We are looking for someone who is passionate about international education, creative in their thinking and collaborative in their approach. The successful candidate will also be adaptable, motivated by challenge and an excellent, highly organised classroom practitioner.

JOB SPECIFICATION

Purpose of Post

1. To teach Computer Science to students on the International Baccalaureate Diploma programme and the Pre-IB programme.

2. To work with Senior Leadership to support management of academic data (reports, assessment etc) through our MIS (ISAMS) and other digital platforms and the development of AI strategy in the school.

3. To support the Principals of Secondary and Primary in whole school timetabling

Overview of Role

All IB students must study a Group 4 Science subject and we aim to introduce Computer Science as part of the IB Diploma course from September 2024 to broaden the range of options available to students. As a result, we are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic teacher of the subject.

The role represents an excellent opportunity for a dedicated teacher to teach in the uniquely dynamic and supportive environment at ICS Milan. The College is a place of innovation and collaboration with a focus on using a STEAM approach within the IB framework.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching (50%)

• Teaching IB Computer Science at higher and standard levels;

• Teaching Computer Science to Pre-IB students;

• Leading an extra-curricular CAS activity group.

AI, Timetabling and MIS academic Support (50%)

• Managing and developing school MIS for academic progress and assessment data;

• Leading AI strategy across the school;

• Building school timetable in collaboration with Principals of Secondary and Primary.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Education and qualifications

• Relevant honours degree and PGCE (or equivalent) (E)

• Ability to teach the subject to IB level (or equivalent) (E)

• Experience of working in an international environment (D)

• Experience of teaching the IB Computer Science course (D)

• Experience of working with students from different cultural, language and educational backgrounds (D)

• Possess an understanding of child protection and safeguarding issues (E)

• A commitment to equal opportunities and inclusion (E)

EARLY YEARS

  • The British Early Years Foundation Stage, a play-based framework, featuring the learning and development goals for young children from birth to five years.


PRIMARY SCHOOL

  • The Cambridge Primary Programme, covering English and maths.
  • The IPC - International Primary Curriculum, covering the topic-based subjects (science, social studies, geography, history, art and international mindedness).
  • National recommendations for the curriculum as established by the Italian Ministry of Education for the Italian language and culture programme. In the 2016/17 academic year, ICS Milan was granted officially recognised school status (parità).


SECONDARY SCHOOL

ICS Secondary School has been designed to offer the IB Programme of the International Baccalaureate:

  • Middle Years Programme for students from 11 to 16 years old.
  • IB Diploma programme 17-18 years old.


As a Scuola Paritaria, our students have the flexibility to move between the Italian and international curriculum, opting to complete the Scuola Media and sit the Licenza Media exams with us, and move back to the Italian system for Liceo, or, to continue with us to complete their Scuola Superiore studies in 4 years alongside the IB, MYP and DP.
