We are seeking a passionate and versatile educator to join our team as an IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) English Language and Literature / Individuals and Societies Teacher. This dual-role position offers an exciting opportunity to inspire and guide students in their exploration of language, literature, and the humanities within the IB MYP framework. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality instruction that fosters critical thinking, creativity, and a deeper understanding of global contexts.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Curriculum Delivery:

  • Design and deliver engaging and rigorous lessons in both English Language and Literature and Individuals and Societies, aligned with the IB MYP framework.
  • Foster inquiry-based learning experiences that encourage students to think critically, engage with diverse perspectives, and develop strong communication skills.


2. Assessment and Feedback:

  • Develop and implement assessments that align with IB standards, providing constructive feedback to support student growth in both subject areas.
  • Use a variety of assessment tools to evaluate students' understanding of literary concepts and their grasp of historical, geographical, and social studies topics.


3. Integration of Technology:

  • Incorporate technology tools and digital resources to enhance learning experiences and promote digital literacy across both disciplines.
  • Stay informed about technological advancements relevant to teaching English and humanities subjects.


4. Collaboration and Professional Development:

  • Collaborate with colleagues within the English and Humanities departments and across disciplines to integrate interdisciplinary approaches into the curriculum.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in IB education and subject-specific teaching methods.


5. Student Engagement:

  • Create a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages student participation and fosters a love for learning.
  • Empower students to express themselves creatively, analyse complex texts, and engage with historical and contemporary issues.


Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in English, History, Social Studies, or a related field
  • Teaching certification and/or qualifications.
  • Experience teaching English Language and Literature and/or Individuals and Societies at the middle school level.
  • Familiarity with the IB MYP framework and inquiry-based teaching methods.


Key Competencies:

  • Strong understanding of inquiry-based learning and interdisciplinary teaching approaches.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to inspire and motivate students through engaging and interactive instruction.
  • Commitment to the principles and philosophy of the International Baccalaureate, with a focus on holistic development and global citizenship.
