The Corner School

The Corner School, is an independent school for children with Social Emotional and Mental Health needs. Our provision is unique with both teachers and therapists working alongside one another. Our aim is to provide a high-quality education and give these children the life skills they need. Our curriculum is designed around the individual needs of each of our learners and children work on educational and social skill targets. We are heavily resourced with expertise and resources that both staff and learners use.  We believe in a strong working partnership with parents and families who are an everyday part of what we do here at The Corner School. 

 The role

The role involves supporting the class teacher with a small group of children aged 4-11 years in delivering quality education.  

  • Planning and implementing opportunities for SMSC and delivering individual and small group activities. 
  • Implementing the schools behaviour policy in a calm and controlled manner.
  • Adding value to our education team and supporting colleagues.

 The person

 We are looking for an outstanding primary practitioner, who understand and can deliver high standards of support for our learners and can inspire and motivate children to achieve their best. 

  •  Excellent numeracy and literacy skills, with minimum GCSE Maths & English A-C/4 or above, or equivalent 
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent behaviour management skills
  •  Proven experience of working with primary age children 
  •  An ability to work as part of a team 
  •  Commitment to helping every child reach their potential 
  •  Positive and flexible approach 
  •  Willingness to develop themselves and learn further 
  •  An understanding of SEMH needs, preferably with relevant work experience
