About us

Talent-Ed is a charity dedicated to closing the education disadvantage gap. We specialise in delivering high quality tuition to disadvantaged young people. We work with young people from across the country delivering tailored tuition programmes both online and in person. We run two types of programme: The Maths Masterclass Tutorials and our Schools Programme (maths, English or science). Please visit our website for more information about our different programmes.

Maths Masterclass Tutorials

The Maths Masterclass Tutorials is an advanced maths programme that aims to increase the diversity and number of excellent mathematicians in the UK. The programme is aimed at young pupils at state schools who have a real aptitude for maths and want to challenge themselves to become great. All of the students on the programme are from state schools, and at least half are from less affluent backgrounds.

The role

We are looking for passionate and qualified maths teachers and tutors, with a love for maths, who can stretch and challenge our pupils to become even better mathematicians. We deliver a structured programme of weekly tuition to small 'maths circles’ (5-6 pupils). You will introduce them to problems and concepts which they will not have encountered at school.

We provide you with the resources, which are developed by the expert team at MESME. We also provide you with accompanying tutor resources to help you prepare thoroughly for each session.

Our online sessions are delivered via Zoom, and tutors will also be able to use our secure virtual learning environment to share resources and message students.

What we look for in a tutor:

• Passion for helping disadvantaged young mathematicians become excellent

• Inspirational and engaging teaching style

• Qualified teacher, or extensive tutoring experience

• Experience teaching/tutoring maths up to at least GCSE

• Maths or STEM-based degree

• Ability to commit to hour-long after school sessions at the same time each week for the term (10-12 weeks)
