The Sheffield UTC Academy Trust provides a new and dynamic education. We opened our Sheffield City Centre site in September 2013 specialising in Engineering and Creative & Digital Media and then opened our second UTC on the exciting Olympic Legacy Park in Sheffield in September 2016 offering opportunities for students in Health Science, Computing and Sports Science. UTC Derby Pride Park joined the Trust in December 2019 offering Engineering and Health & Life Sciences and in its recent OFSTED inspection in December 2023 was judged ‘Good’ with ‘Outstanding’ behaviour and attitudes. All 3 UTCs in the Trust are judged as ‘Good’ by Ofsted.

UTC Derby Pride Park is currently looking to recruit a suitably qualified Skills Trainer for Sports & PE.  

The post holder will be required to work at UTC Derby Pride Park delivering a variety of PE / Sports lessons and activities. In this role we would hope that you can enthuse our students to develop a joy of participation and we would hope you would be able to offer a range of diverse activities to suit all of our students.

They will also support / lead attendance at external fixtures / trips and take an active role with enrichment activities, which may include Duke of Edinburgh. 

In addition, the Skills Trainer will be required to supervise classes across the curriculum when there are planned / unplanned absences of staff members, ensuring that students are engaging in pre-set work and managing student behaviour to ensure a safe learning environment.

As a skills trainer you will also be given form tutor roles such as registering students and supporting the delivery of the tutorial learning programme.

Applicants should have experience of facilitating learning / working with students in a formal setting without supervision and experience of supervising / organising / coaching sports activities.
