Are you passionate about inclusion and committed to meeting the needs of all children?

Do you have the ability to engage, motivate and promote the learning and personal development of pupils?

The Governors of Joseph Norton Academy would like to invite applications from enthusiastic, hard-working, team players for the position of Pastoral Welfare Leader. As part of our school’s Pastoral Team, you will play a key role in creating a stimulating, safe and happy environment in which our pupils can thrive. You will have experience of working with vulnerable children and the ability to support our pupils and their families to overcome barriers to learning in a multi-agency setting. At school you will be a key support for both pupils and staff, leading areas such as attendance, pupil welfare and the school’s learning support or ‘on call’ system.

We are looking for a team-player with presence, passion and a commitment to inclusion with the ability to work creatively for the benefit of pupils at our school. In return you will have the opportunity to work with great colleagues as part of a supportive team and the ability to develop your career in our specialist setting.

Part of Wellspring Multi Academy Trust, Joseph Norton Academy is the only special school in Kirklees catering for pupils in Key Stages 2-4 with severe and complex Social, Emotional and Mental Health difficulties (SEMH).

Joseph Norton Academy is the same as any other school in that we have high expectations of our pupils; build a secure and happy atmosphere in which pupils can learn effectively; and offer a broad range of subjects and qualifications, including GCSEs.  However, we are different to other schools in that we organise our pupils into nurture groups; structure our day and our curriculum to support pupils with SEMH difficulties; and employ specialist staff to support the special educational needs of our pupils.
