Job overview

The Winsford Academy is an 11 – 16 mixed comprehensive and founder member of The Fallibroome Trust - a ten school, cross phase Cheshire based MAT. Our intake is non-‐selective and we consider ourselves privileged to help to shape young lives in our community.

Winsford Academy is the town’s only secondary school and has an able but newly appointed leadership team, committed staff and students who are keen to learn and are proud of their school with parents and carers who want the best choices for their children.

It has been a challenging period for the school because of changes in the leadership team and the residual impact on student behaviour of the pandemic. We are looking to recruit a strong and effective leader with vision, resilience and an optimistic outlook to work with experienced colleagues in the school and Trust team to support the school on the next phase of its development.

We feel this role, whilst challenging, will also provide the opportunity for you to really make a significant difference to pupils’ outcomes and life chances. The Academy is a focal point for the economic and cultural regeneration of Winsford and you will find a deeply committed community that will respond enthusiastically to your stewardship.

Ofsted judged Winsford Academy to be ‘Requires Improvement’ in November 2022 having been judged to be ‘Good’ in May 2016. The school received a positive monitoring visit by Ofsted in November 2022.

You will have the support of an effective, forward thinking Governing Body, committed to providing high quality education in an aspirational learning environment.

You will be fully supported by the Trust CEO and Deputy CEO, the Director of School Improvement and a central services team who deliver IT, Finance, Facilities and HR under

the leadership of a COO and Chief Information Officer working collaboratively with an experienced School Business Manager.

We are delighted to present the Academy and the Trust as an opportunity to progress your career and make a real difference to a vibrant community. Please take the opportunity to meet with us to fully appreciate the potential for of this role.

This will be a truly rewarding experience for the right candidate offering the opportunity to make a significant impact and real difference as the Academy moves into its next phase of development.

CLOSING DATE: Monday 10th June 2024 (12noon)

FORMAL INTERVIEWS: Monday 17th June 2024 and Tuesday 18th June 2024

About The Winsford Academy

Based in Winsford, Cheshire, the Winsford Academy is an 11 to 16 co-educational comprehensive school, which has recently been oversubscribed.

The staff at Winsford Academy are at the forefront of transforming young lives. The socio-economic context of the school places it in the 5th quintile for deprivation on entry and levels of SEN are also significantly higher than average.

We hope that you will consider joining us on our inspirational journey to impart a sense of belonging, aspiration and a lifelong love of learning to our whole student community.

With such meaningful work, we know how important it is that our staff are well supported and have the professional development, technology and systems they need to thrive from day one in school, as well as a warm welcome and 'family friendly' ethos.

The Winsford Academy is proud to be part of The Fallibroome Trust, a family of academy schools committed to providing an exceptional all-round education that equips young people with the character, knowledge and skills to meet the challenges of a changing world.

Established in 2014, The Fallibroome Trust currently numbers ten schools; seven primaries and three high schools. We work closely together, sharing expertise and good practice on curriculum, assessment and behaviour. We want pupils to be happy, safe and inspired to learn.

Being part of Trust means structured career pathways and opportunities for colleagues, supported by high-quality professional development. We are also supported with staffing, finance, IT, and building maintenance, giving us more time to focus on our priorities of teaching and learning.

We live by the Trust values of Respect, Integrity and Optimism.
