Southport Education Group is seeking a dedicated Progress Tutor to support students in their personal development and academic progress.

About the Role

You will deliver weekly group sessions on key themes such as personal growth and safeguarding, as part of the College’s tutorial programme. Alongside this, you will provide one-to-one support to a caseload of students, monitoring attendance and progress, and setting meaningful targets to promote achievement. 

Working closely with Careers Co-ordinators, you’ll provide advice and guidance to help students progress to positive destinations within or beyond the college. You’ll also collaborate with Student Engagement Officers to support student welfare and implement strategies to boost retention and achievement including liaison with parents, carers, and external agencies.

About you

The successful candidate will possess experience gained within an educational setting, particularly supporting 16–18-year-olds. A background in delivering effective student support is essential.

Southport College is a well established independent Further Education college providing a diverse programme of education and training to a variety of learners across the North West.

Working closely with schools across Sefton and West Lancashire, Southport College offers a School Links programme for over 250 14-16 year olds who combine studying vocational courses at Southport College alongside their GCSEs in school. Southport College is the area’s largest provider of vocational courses, with nearly 2000 full-time 16-19 year-olds studying a range of qualifications including BTECs, NVQs, CACHE awards, City & Guilds qualifications and the exciting new Advanced Diplomas, in a wide range of subjects from Hair & Beauty Studies or Forensic Science to Childcare or Games Design & Animation.

Southport College provides a range of part-time and full-time courses to over 3000 adult learners, many of them supported by their employers on courses delivered in the workplace through our Employer Services team. Many students choose to study university education at Southport College, following degree courses validated by Liverpool John Moores University, the University of Central Lancashire and Edge Hill University.
