The Reading Lead (Teacher of English with whole school reading responsibilities) will lead the next exciting stage of the development of the academy’s Reading Curriculum. The successful applicant will promote and embed the vision and values of the academy and those of the Trust. They will work alongside senior leadership and the Head of English to ensure that the academy’s Reading Curriculum continues to be a strength of the school and builds on the work which places reading at the heart of our curriculum offer. This role is designed to ensure that Co-op North Manchester is at the forefront of pedagogical practice, ensuring that pupils access a broad and ambitious curriculum that is not only inclusive and representative of our school community, but celebrates that diversity. We are seeking a candidate who is passionate about the transformative power of reading and who will be relentless in driving the profile of reading across school and ensuring every pupil leaves Co-op Academy North Manchester able to read confidently and independently.

The Reading Lead will drive forward the academy’s vision for reading, ensuring that resources are allocated so as to ensure that high standards are achieved in reading for all pupils. You will be a successful and experienced teacher, who is able to enthuse, motivate and inspire children, generating a love for reading. You will have a commitment to the highest standards and be able to secure the highest quality outcomes for all. You will be able to instil in our pupils a love, passion and interest in reading which goes beyond the classroom. You will be an excellent leader who will be able to use their skills to develop and work through others to achieve a shared vision.

We are looking for a candidate who demonstrates unconditional positive regard for young people and who has the highest expectations of themselves and others and with an ambition to make a difference. You will have the opportunity to lead across the academy and to further reading provision within all departments. You will have excellent interpersonal skills and will be highly effective in promoting and securing excellence for all. You will have the drive and ambition to help drive forward excellence in teaching and learning with regards to the provision of reading.
