Job overview

Bryanston has an exciting opportunity for a passionate Sport Graduate or Coach to assist with our sport provision, initially for one year.

This role would ideally suit a Sport graduate with experience as a player or early-career coach in Football, Netball or Hockey, who is interested in exploring the teaching profession and gaining experience in the large and thriving Sport and Physical Education Department of a busy co-ed boarding school.

Sport is at the heart of what Bryanston pupils choose to do outside the classroom and our core sports include football, rugby, hockey, cricket, netball, tennis, equestrian and rowing. We are delighted to have a history of pupils who play representative sport at National level, and we are also a satellite Centre for Team Bath Netball. Set in 400-acres of Dorset countryside, our sports facilities are exceptional and include sports pitches, an equestrian centre, rowing on the river Stour, tennis courts, a climbing tower, indoor bouldering wall and sports centre.

The role will involve residing in staff accommodation and playing a central role in running the boarding house. There is a vibrant community of staff living on site, many of whom also undertake residential boarding house duties with accommodation provided. Full induction and support will be available, and although this is an appointment for one academic year in the first instance, there may be an opportunity for the right candidate to have their employment extended as part of our in-post PGCE teacher training programme, in due course.

Bryanston offers a competitive package of free accommodation, utilities, meals, and gym membership in a fantastic working environment.

For any queries, please contact the HR Department via recruitment@bryanston.co.uk.

Closing date for applications: Tuesday 7th May 2024.

Bryanston is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Applicants will be required to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).

The post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the School is therefore permitted to ask job applicants to declare all convictions and cautions (including those which are "spent" unless they are "protected" under the DBS filtering rules) in order to assess their suitability to work with children.

About Bryanston School

Bryanston is an independent boarding and day school for boys and girls aged 3 to 18, set in a beautiful 400-acre site near Blandford Forum in Dorset. It includes Bryanston Prep School, a co-educational day and boarding prep school in the neighbouring village of Durweston.

Founded in 1928, the school aims above all to develop the all-round talents of individual pupils. A broad, flexible academic and extra-curricular programme is offered and each pupil benefits from considerable one-to-one help and guidance from a personal tutor, subject teachers and housemaster/housemistress. Bryanston aims to combine the best of the new and the old, as befits the school motto et nova et vetera.
