Sylvia Young Theatre School is looking for an Experienced and Passionate Science Teacher to join our unique school


The successful individual will need to be confident to teach Biology, Chemistry and Physics across Key Stage 3 and 4 and have secure subjects and curriculum knowledge. You will plan and teach well structured lessons that respond to the strengths and needs of all students. Our school follows the OCR exam specifications. All students complete GCSE qualifications in Science. Our class sizes are small.

The role is 3 days a week and based in school. The days are Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Due to the structure of the academic curriculum in our school there is no flexibility to change these days.

At the Sylvia Young Theatre School on top of the 3 day academic curriculum we have a 2 day vocational curriculum. However all our students still complete 8-9 GCSE subjects in Year 11 alongside their vocational curriculum.

You will be a team player, flexible, organised, hard working and committed to enabling children to flourish. All our teachers are role models who have high expectations that inspire, motivate and challenge students. They all demonstrate consistent high standards of personal and professional conduct and lead by example.

About Sylvia Young Theatre School

Sylvia Young Theatre School is a mixed, non-denominational independent secondary school in Westminster, serving students from the age of 10-16. The secondary school, situated in Marble Arch has approximately 210 students on record.

Sylvia Young Theatre School was founded in 1981. In 2010, it moved to a new building in Nutford Place, with facilties including rehearsal rooms, a recording studios and courtyard gardens. Students follow an academic programme alongside their vocational training in the performing arts (drama, dance and singing). The school has it’s own agency – The Sylvia Young Agency, which represents full time students and boasts strong industry links.
